WHAT IS THE BUILDING MATERIAL DEALERS SAFETY GROUP?
The Building Material Dealers Safety Group is a collection of safety-conscious businesses in New York State that receive low-cost, fully insured workers' compensation insurance through the New York State Insurance Fund.
Eligible members include planing or molding mills, cabinet works, furniture manufacturers, parquet floors and cabinet installers, hardware stores, sash door or finished millwork dealers and more, located in New York State that have a proven track record of safety.
Subject to loss history, qualifying members may receive an upfront group discount of up to 35%. The individual premiums of the group members are pooled and, after paying claims and expenses, the profits of the group are returned to members in the form of a dividend.
Since 1993, our average paid dividend to building material dealers is 26%.
WHO QUALIFIES?
Building material dealers with the following payroll classification codes qualify for the Building Material Dealers Safety Group of New York #540:
2731 Planing or Molding Mills
2737 Millwork Manufacturing. Must be done in connection with a lumberyard
2817 Cabinet Works NOC-With Power Driven Machines
2881 Furniture Assembling - Wood
2883 Furniture Manufacturing - Wood
2913 Rattan, Willow or Twisted Fiber Products Manufacturing
5429 Parquet Floors, Cabinet Installation
7998 Hardware Stores – Retail. Only permitted if there is effective separation of payrolls and operations
7999 Hardware Stores - Wholesale. Only permitted if there is effective separation of payrolls and operations
8018 Wholesale Stores NOC - Restricted to dealers of plywood, paint, electrical supplies, acoustical tiles, shelving and flooring
8111 Plumbers Supply Dlrs.- No Mfg.
8232 Building Materials Dealers
8235 Sash Door or Finished Millwork Dealers
9501 Sign Painting or Lettering - Restricted to work done for the furniture or architectural
