Employee safety is a top priority for any workplace. Preventing injuries not only protects your team but also helps avoid costly workers' compensation claims. Since slips, trips, and falls are among the most common workplace injuries, it’s crucial to address these hazards effectively. Use the tips below to minimize the risk of common workplace injuries and create a safer work environment:

  1. Slip, Trip, and Fall Hazards: Be cautious when walking both upstairs and downstairs to avoid slips, trips, and falls.

  2. Use Proper Equipment: Always wear gloves when lifting heavy objects manually.

  3. Proper Lifting Technique: When lifting manually, avoid bending at your waist to prevent back injuries.

  4. Ladder Safety: Maintain three points of contact with the ladder at all times.

  5. Safe Driving Practices: Ensure a three-second gap between your vehicle and the one in front to avoid collisions.

  6. Fire Extinguisher Use: Apply the "PASS" method when using a fire extinguisher: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.

  7. Effective Safety Committees: A successful Safety Committee should have strong leadership, active membership, and clear goal orientation.

  8. Chemical Safety: Be aware that hazardous chemicals can pose physical and health risks.

  9. Heat Safety: In temperatures over 91 degrees Fahrenheit, employees should take water breaks every 10-15 minutes to stay hydrated.

  10. Accident Investigation: Investigate and record all accidents to prevent future incidents.
